Experienced Audio Designer - Contract
Description
Playground Games are looking to grow their world-class Fable audio team with the addition of an Experienced Audio Designer (Mid/Senior/Principal Level), keen to create incredible audio experiences.
About us:
As a first-party Xbox Game Studio, we are passionate about making genre-defining games that are accessible, beautiful, and, most of all, fun. We are excited to be rebooting the much-loved Fable franchise and are expanding our diverse team to create a new classic in the action RPG genre.
About the role:
You’ll use your skills and experience in game audio to help shape the sound of Fable. Working alongside the audio team you’ll design systems, source, record, and create sound effects, and implement audio in our in-house engine, ForzaTech. We have dedicated teams working on music and dialogue, so you get to focus on creating great sounds.
You’ll also collaborate with other developers from multiple disciplines, evangelising audio and having a creative voice in discussions and reviews. You’ll have the opportunity to put your stamp on a unique and memorable gaming experience.
As a team player, you’ll be keen to share your ideas & knowledge and grow your own expertise, helping develop those around you, mentoring more junior staff members and build your own leadership skills. The successful applicant will learn and adapt their workflows to our bespoke inhouse tools – and of course help shape how these tools empower us to keep making better audio.
You'll be passionate about sound design too, always looking for ways to improve the games audio. You’ll have the use of state of the art facilities here at Playground, with a plethora of kit, opportunities for field & location recording, and Atmos rooms for asset creation and mixing.
This is a contract role based at our state-of-the-art facilities in Royal Leamington Spa. We have a hybrid work model in place with a minimum of 3 days a week in studio. Relocation assistance is available if required.
What you’ll do:
- Use our gorgeous custom-designed 7.1.4 Atmos rooms to create incredible sounds
- Implement your work in our inhouse engine
- Schedule and attend recording sessions to capture material for our game and inhouse library
- Work on multiple features with the wider development team
- Learn and grow as a part of an experienced audio team
What you'll bring:
- Expert sound design skills
- Shipped at least one title in an audio-design role
- Experience working on AAA open-world games is desirable.
- Practical knowledge of Wwise, including debugging and optimisation.
- Expert knowledge of DAWs and various plugins.
- The ability to adapt to new technology and bespoke game engine tools.
- Knowledge of blueprinting & visual scripts is desirable.
- Location and studio-based SFX recording experience.
- A passion for games.
This is a fantastic opportunity to make a world-class game with an established, talented, and collaborative team at one of the industry’s most exciting first-party game studios.
